This has got some pretty exciting potential. If it ever makes it past the drawing board, it could be a return to the televisional form that Star Trek hasn't enjoyed since the glory years of Next Generation.

It doesn't seem quite as radical or inventive as Bryan Singer's idea, but I for one would love to see a new Trek show combining the established mythos with today's production and writing values.

Enterprise was basically the final rusty nail in the plywood coffin of credibility. But the new movie, and a general nostalgia for the older shows, has brought all that back in a big way. I reckon they'd have at least a decent chance of getting some network to pick up a new series, especially since there are such clear examples on how to do good TV right these days.

We'd both be keen to go to the wine tasting that you mentioned on the 8th - we'd just have to get you some cash for the tickets before then. What're the details for the tasting?

Gosh, a Star Trek series with "touches" of Ron Moore? Wacky!
